Lunchtime

It took all morning… but that cloudiness finally burnt off mostly and now I have sun ☀️ so much better ❤️

I have been busy. Taking a lunch sorta – I have lunch lol … but I still have to do everything. So eating – taking a minute while is quiet …

I have a big giant window… it looks out to what is normally a really busy area. I am in a really big city.

This city – as with many big cities – has a homeless population.

Maybe about 2 hours ago some homeless man plopped his stuff down… and by stuff – I mean 2 garbage bars and a store bag, plus he has a beautiful white rose in a long vase 🌹.

At first he just put his stuff down and stood there for awhile…

Then as it began to get sunny… he is now just in jeans. He has been rummaging through his bags for about an hour. He must have been looking for his paper – because now he is reading the paper lol

Normally they are not allowed to loiter. Especially right out front…

But he isn’t doing any harm, I haven’t seen him do anything bad. As long as he’s not doing drugs or anything – I think it’s ok for the moment.

We aren’t open or having people come here – I’m not supposed to even open the door to people. Anyone … we have signs ALL over the windows and door about this covid-19 🤨

It’s a nice peaceful place … and no we can’t have the homeless loitering right out front … but is one guy- just taking some time. I think that’s fine.

It can’t be easy being homeless right now. I always wonder what their story is.

My very first day here – we had a homeless guy by the dumpster lighting a dumpster fire and police and fire were called – that was back at the beginning of February. We had to file a trespassing complaint on that one, because they had warned him prior.

But this one seems harmless and he is just being peaceful and not causing any issues. I think it’s fine if he takes a rest away from others if he needs that for a minute – he’s just sitting on the grass off to the side.

He will move along eventually – they always usually do.

I wish I had extra hand sanitizer to give him. They probably really don’t have the luxury to be afraid of this… where are they gonna run to hide from it – ya know?

Not much changes for them other than hopefully not catching. Or at least I think that?

Ooh whoa hang on 😳😮 not him something else be back

  1. I noticed a LOT more homeless on my journeys. At first I thought it was due to less car traffic. But I later realized they’re camping in more visible places due to less human traffic.
Last week someone left a sofa on the corner and when I drove by, both leaving and coming home, there was a high/crazy guy talking to himself and playing with a big nerf gun. NBD but very close to homes with kids and he dumped a ton if trash all over the street.

  2. I wonder about DC homeless. Normally they survive by asking money from passerby, but now DC is a dead town. I heard on the radio that people try to do food drive and go into DC to handout food. Normally they also dig through trash for people’s left over, but now everything is closed in DC, so there shouldn’t be much food. I can’t wait to go back into town and see the situation.

    1. There are still kitchens feeding them here… is limited and I don’t think they can eat there – I think they have to take it and go? One at a time or something like that?

But a lot is shut down… although restaurants are still open and doing drive through only or pick up… and grocery stores open

There are still many out and about here – not like normal – is way less than normal… but still many.

I don’t know what the homeless do with this ?? Cause what if they get sick? And the deaths in this thing are pretty significant so ??

It’s scary. Hope they are ok though!!

You will have to update when you do that!! I’d be curious how is in your area

At work today… I got an email saying that New York, New Jersey and Staten Island… are having massive issues… they are in need of help removing bodies …

Normally they handle about 20 deaths a day… currently they are doing 162 a day!! 😮 they need help with body removal and are asking anyone who can help who is in or knows the funeral business.

      1. I went into DC a couple times and it was a dead city with everything closed. It was like the movie I Am Legend, except that was in NYC. I was the only one walking around. I saw one or two joggers. There was no one on the Metro (our city train), but at least they still run. No car during the rush hour. I see still waited for the walk light though, and felt silly.

      2. lol on the walk light 😄😄

I know!!! In some areas it gives a creepy weird feeling. I think years ago the discovery channel did something about life after humans and showed empty cities like that.

My big city is not empty though – the one I work in. Is less that normal but still a lot of people out and about
