Working while isolated

I got to work today… whew I am really tired! I just walked in the door, put my stuff down and sat down… I shouldn’t have sat down lol … I still have to get back up, even though my body is melting into the chair!! I want to shower – I need another shower

I spent most of my day completely disinfecting every single surface – now I need a shower to disinfect myself lol … I don’t wanna get in bed without a shower!!

This morning when I got in – I did my usual… sort of … I am the only person there and only one person allowed in building at a time – that would be “me” lol … so today I did not turn on the heavenly music… why? No one else would be there to hear that – and I don’t wanna listen to it for 9 hours lol

I planned ahead and brought myself a Bluetooth speaker 🔈… I knew I would be disinfecting most of the day… and knew it would just be me… I wanted MY music – today I breathed a little life into the funeral home ❤️

So anyway… I got in, turned on all the lights, put out the mat and the wreaths … opened the blinds to my window to the world…

I was going around the office, doing my morning opening procedures. Every so often that window catches my attention – not really for any reason… just the outside world… I love looking out that window.

Most of the time I love looking out that window … but this morning when the window caught my attention… that crow was back … and he brought a friend… so now there were 2 crows 😳 … you have no idea how much crows freak me out

So thats number 2 … 2 of them… I know it’s just a superstition… but whatever I don’t like it… one more and it be bad. With this stupid virus I definitely DO NOT want to see 3 of them… Oh my god! 😮 … again I know is a superstition but I still don’t like it. It will make me really nervous!!

So I stopped looking out the window … I did scan to see if there was a 3rd but there luckily was not… but I don’t like 2 either – go somewhere else!!

But I didn’t want to take a chance of seeing a 3rd either… so I forwarded the phones to my cell phone, so it would interrupt my music and I could take the call no matter where I was, if someone called… I connected my phone to the speaker, put on a playlist I made last night of songs I know all the lyrics to… or songs I have my own lyrics for lol…

And I played music most of the day while I sang along ❤️ was awesome ❤️ … sing like no ones listening because they weren’t lol ✌️ I zoned out with the songs and disinfected everything room by room

I did get 2 calls… one about some ashes … and another from a local hotel in the big city…

Many hotels are also closed down too … this hotel was calling to ask if anyone asks or needs a hotel please refer them, and they will do same for us (lol, although I can’t imagine anyone asking a hotel concierges- excuse me, do you have any recommendations on funeral homes? Lol) but whatever … I took their info and their number down and left messages for our employees Incase we had anyone who asked for hotels. (But I doubt that right now too)

Some funeral homes actually did close – we aren’t and won’t be closing – we are staying open to serve the public … someone has to… you can’t just leave dead bodies because everybody is closed!! So we are taking them.

When this goes back to normal it’s going to be crazy… we will have to do all the postponed funerals and memories – plus the ones that will come in then!!

We are not offering any funerals, memorials or services … we will do cremations and embalming… which is done off site… and hold in morgue until are able to to have normal operations – we are offering burials but only in the morning hours and it just be very small, immediate family only and must be fast and quick if someone just wants to have that done. Some religions require special things like that. But those are the choices at the moment.

When this is over … it’s just going to be insane!!

We had signs all over the outside windows and doors …

So anyway… I continued cleaning and disinfecting every surface I could think people touch… I wore gloves and an apron … remembered not to touch my face lol … washed my hands constantly. I swear my skin is going to come off!! But whatever – doing it! I don’t want this thing.

I took a break for lunch, and had a soup I brought. That was yummy. I looked outside again and it was sunny and nice – the crows were gone by the afternoon so I liked that.

The streets still had some cars… we have to be careful but sometimes you need things or some of us still work. For the most part – there is not many out.

I drive home on the highway… I have to take 3 highways to get home… usually is annoying with stupid traffic – normally I debate whether to take the highways, which do have me get home quicker and is more of a straight shot… OR take the country roads which takes me longer but always less traffic and so relaxing❤️ that’s normally though (not when on lock down)

Now I just take the highways cause there is hardly anyone and I can just zip home. I really love no traffic!! I get home so quick – what normally takes me an hour or so,.. now just takes me 30 minutes or less if I have a lead foot. 😉✌️

I hadn’t worked since last weekend … and I worked myself hard today. Tmrw I have a little more to do… but not too much and then I can just chill – woo hoo!!! ❤️

And I’ll do my music again ❤️

It’s not so bad. And I don’t have to see anyone – well mostly…

The Maintenence guy came to do the lawns … he knocked on the door cause he needed key for trash (we keep our gigantic trash containers locked because of the homeless – they cause issues with those, so we lock them)

I only cracked the door like some weirdo lol … yes? … and he asked for me to unlock the trash so I said I’d go around and do that.

I quickly grabbed the key and unlocked the trash, he said he would lock it back up for me – and I wanted to get back inside lol … there ya go, nice to see you bye lol

Oh yeah and I had to open the door for the mail man too 😳… I had mail to give him, and he had mail for me 😮… dammit I didn’t have my gloves on!!!

I took the mail, placed it in the incoming bin thing… went and washed my hands and then used more hand sanitizer

Luckily there is no mail on Sunday… and maintenance guy did his job today. So I shouldn’t see anyone tmrw!

Not that I don’t miss people and being normal … but whatever – happy to be safe so far – so I’m fine with it.

Alright well I have to go take a shower and wash the day off… I haven’t read ANY posts yet today!! I am probably way behind!!

Ok gonna sanitize myself ✌️

Have a good night and please stay safe!! Seriously – do that!! Please

  1. I took a package from an Amazon guy without thinking to ask if he was okay with me getting that close. He was young and didn’t seem to think twice about it but I feel like a bad person.

I used to work a 3-10 (but often to midnight or 3am) shift and a contactor I knew from years earlier got hired to work with me starting around 5pm. We were in a basement lab. Once regular staff cleared out we’d take off our shoes and crank dance music for the rest of our shift!!

    1. Well the only reason I mentioned taking the man from the mailman is because I have a friend who’s a little crazy with this whole coronavirus thing… so she’s that nervous friend who warns you about horrible things you don’t think of lol … she was telling me the other day – “we all gonna get it, and you know where that’s gonna come from? The mail man” lol … that was on my mind when he came to the door and had mail for me 😄😄 … I was like crap wait let me get my gloves lol – I just didn’t want to fully be a weirdo… so I politely took the mail – and then raced to wash my hands and sanitize lol

Your contractor friend sounds awesome!! Probably some of the most fun and enjoyable moments!! That sounds like was amazing!!!

      1. The friend is a total weirdo (it takes a lot for ME to think someone is weird) but we had similar tastes in music.

I know a couple Corona paranoid people. Hell, whatever gets you through the day, do it. I internally freak after catching myself touch store counters but I’m super careful not to touch my face till I can wash or sanitize.

      2. Well isn’t it the weirdos who make life pretty amazing sometimes though? Either that or we just fit in with them lol … she’s pretty awesome but always has those warning things 😄 … I just let her tell me those things – but sometimes they stick in the back of my mind lol … she will say her caution things – I will hear her … not really think too much of it… and then like this mailman story – lol – it pops back in my mind lol – I hear her words lol

Yeah today at work while I was disinfecting everything … Oh my god! I don’t even know how many times I washed my hands and sanitized – I felt like those obsessed people who have to do that … every time I touched something without gloves 🧤 … but I haven’t been there all week – I don’t know who’s been coughing or sneezing or touching or whatever lol – so I’m just in high sensitivity with it currently lol

  2. I was thinking of you when I saw footage armed forces in Italy hauling truckloads of bodies for cremation, no services allowed.

Somewhere else is offering closed circuit tv funeral services.

    1. Awww 😔 yeah Italy 🇮🇹… my thoughts and prayers for them!!! 💔😔🙏 … my heart goes out to them!!! I’m sorry they hit so hard.

I have not seen that footage – they’ve had it really rough!! They have been overwhelmed … I don’t even watch a lot of tv and I have heard how hard it’s been for them. I am so sorry for that. May peace be with them.

You couldn’t offer anything in the situation they have – theirs is severe.

We are hit kinda hard up here in Nor Cal… I also heard your area or Los Angeles is getting hit pretty hard now… police keep coming down with it???

The tv thing – closed circuit is pretty good idea… or online – that would be good too. It’s difficult. Kinda of a hard situation to be in… you have to serve your public but at the same time you can’t

But tv or internet – that’s a good idea … I dunno if mine will do that? Mine is a corporation of funeral homes throughout the United States – so maybe??

      1. They say we’re still tracking almost exactly the same #s as Italy, but 2 weeks behind. But the US is a lot larger so it’s not nearly the same. I read that Spain had a massive jump today (probably did a mass of testing) and is now ahead of us.

It’s important to remember that, even in Italy, >90% recover!!

      2. Yeah I bet if they tested everyone here our stats be pretty bad too … this just went nuts!

I believe it… from what I see up here in Nor Cal… yeah… I have not seen the death rate like Italy though

But I’ve been listening intently on the east coast – I am from Massachusetts and they had 2 confirmed deaths today… both Massachusetts and New York are getting hit really hard right now … my family is in Massachusetts and I have a sister in Maine …

I have heard Maine is not so bad so maybe is ok!

I have not seen or read any news today – I worked then been on here …

I showered after work to get any germs off me lol –
        Please god let that help!

Under 90% in Italy recover? 😳

I don’t like this thing at all, can they hurry up and find something!!!

Pull any straw possible – get some of the kids from MIT working on it!

      3. Do you know what the age ranges are in Italy?

Not as bad as Ebola which was what? 50% right?

But that’s not a consolation 😔… I am glad to hear greater than 90% are recovering though – just feel bad for the 10% losses

I don’t like losses even if I don’t know them personally

      4. Yeah, avg 50% for Ebola because there’s still no effective treatment… just fluids and hope.

While some people compare this to the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, that one killed more than 50,000,000 people worldwide… cause there were no meds. To fate, corona has killed 13,000.

      5. Population was sooo much smaller back then too! The local cemetery has a lot if 1918/1919 headstones.

This won’t be anything like that. But something will, eventually. Mother Nature fights back!

      6. Hopefully we learn some lessons from this… no more wet markets – stop that shit

And then we need serious measures to protect from this ever happening again!!!

      7. Wanna get truly paranoid? Scientists aren’t sure what kind of germs/viruses will be released by the melting permafrost under glaciers.
But if Mother Nature doesn’t lower our numbers, we’ll do it ourselves through war.
Yeaahh… I’m a pessimist when it comes to humanity.

      8. Lol I have heard that one before … wouldn’t surprise me and scientifically we don’t know…

Hopefully all this maybe helps us unite a little better? We are all going through the same trauma? Sometimes that pulls closer?

        Lol … I’m a optimist lol … most of the time ✌️

      9. Oh my god! Italy 🇮🇹 I am so sorry 😔💔… that is just a heartbreaking image… my heart goes out to Italy … oh wow! I knew Italy was hit hard – but I didn’t understand that hard – I am so sorry Italy 🇮🇹 😔💔

I keep trying to warn people!! But I dunno if they listen or quite see?

      10. It wasn’t quite as bad as it looked… I found out it was 67 coffins… but all from one area. And that was a couple days ago. Their death rate keeps dramatically increasing… lots of seniors and few hospital resources. That’s also where deaths for younger people are much higher than the world average… prob due to the same 2 factors… lots of smokers and lots of cheek kissing.

        Liked by 1 person

      11. Was it Lombardy ?

That is scary… and who knew cheek kissing be an issue… smoking yeah I can see that… and with this think I can see the cheek kissing too

I am never going to be normal again lol

It’s crazy… when I first started working at the funeral home one of the very first calls I got was a death call for a woman who was 105… and I was astonished just imagining what she must have seen and experienced in her lifetime!! … and now here I sit – not quite 50… but damn life has done a 360 since I was a kid!!
